No, it is not mandatory. XEBEC Float Holder is an optional tool that has multiple benefits listed below, but XEBEC Brush Surfaces can still be used without it.
Benefits of using XEBEC Float Holder:
1. Reduction of frequency to adjust the depth of cut and Brush projection as the Brush wears (successful case: frequency reduced to 1/18)
2. Extend tool life (successful case: 4 times longer)
3. Improve consistency of the edge quality.
It cannot be used on any surface with steps or protrusions, because the internal spring needs to be contracted at all times to ensure that the Brush is engaged with the surface with a constant spring load. Similarly, it cannot be used on any surface with any cavity into which the Brush may fall into.
This is because the internal spring needs to be contracted at all times ensure Brush is engaged with the surface with a constant spring load. For the same reason it cannot climb over steps and protrusions on the surface.
XEBEC Float Holder Straight Shank Type FH-ST12-SL10 can be used with XEBEC Brush Surface with diameters of 6mm, 15mm, 25mm, and 40mm. FH-ST20-60 and FH-ST20-100 are specifically for XEBEC Brush Surface with diameters of 60mm and 100mm, respectively.
As for XEBEC Float Holder BT Shank Type, both FH-BT30 and FH-BT40 can be used with XEBEC Brush Surface with diameters of 6mm, 15mm, and 25mm. A bushing (sold separately) may be needed depending on which Brush to use it with.
No, they are not available.
Yes, only BT30 and BT40 are available.
FH-ST12-SL10 comes with an 8mm bushing (XBS1008) and a 6mm bushing (XBS1006). A 3mm bushing (XBS1003) is also available, but it is sold separately. As for FH-ST20-60, it comes with a 12mm bushing (XBS1912).
For the bush for FH-ST20-100, the φ16 bush (XBS1916) is included in the product.
For bushings for FH-BT30 and FH-BT40, φ6 bush (BBBS0806) and φ3 bush (BBBS0803), which are sold separately, are available.
Yes, we are able to offer drawings in PDF format. Please send us your request at: https://www.xebec-tech.com/en/contact/
*Please note that we are unable to offer drawings in any CAD data file such as dxf file.
It can be attached to the machine tool with milling chucks and drill chucks, and other chucking devices.
When using XEBEC Float Holder sideways, the float function may not work if the spring load is weak.
As for FH-ST12-SL10, replace the pre-installed spring with a high load spring and meke sure it floats smoothly before use. FH-ST20-60, FH-ST20-100, FH-BT30 and FH-BT40 cannot be used in horizontal machining centers.
Yes. It can be used with both dry and wet machining. However, do not use pull bolts with a through hole (center through type) for the tool ring. If high-pressure coolant gets inside the holder, the float will not work. When applying coolant from the side, apply it to the tip of the Brush but not directly to the XEBEC Float Holder. Coolant may get in through the vent hole at the Float Holder, which may impede the smooth float.
Yes. As for FH-ST12-SL10, 3 types of springs with different loads are included, so you can replace the springs according to the finishing quality. FH-ST20-60, FH-ST20-100, FH-BT30 and FH-BT40 have a built-in spring, and the spring load can be changed by turning the spring adjustment. The adjustment procedure of the spring pressure is described in the instruction manual.
The XEBEC float holder (FH-ST20-60/100, FH-BT30/40), whose load can be changed with a screw, the spring cannot be changed. To adjust the spring pressure, turn the screw.
FH-ST20-60/100 has 2 load adjusting screws to adjust the spring pressure. The spring pressure is set to the minimum when shipped.
Check the instruction manual for the adjustment procedure.
The spring pressure of FH-BT30/40 can be adjusted by turning the adjustment bolt. The spring pressure is minimum when the bolt is tightened up clockwise, and the maximum spring pressure is at the position of 6 turns counterclockwise.
The spring pressure is set to the minimum when shipped.
Please note that if you turn it counterclockwise 6 times or more, the spring will stick and the float function will not work.
Sludge may have entered inside. Disassemble it in same steps as when replacing the spring, and clean internal components.
Is it possible to purchase only springs, bushes, or steel balls?
